THE Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Tuesday ordered the Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC) to fast-track the completion of long-stalled housing projects in Caloocan City, which would be part of the expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program.

DHSUD’s move aims to end beneficiaries’ more than a decade of waiting, and to avoid further deterioration of the housing structures, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said.

The order came following the DHSUD chief’s inspection of stalled housing projects in Caloocan City’s Bagumbong and Camarin villages.

The housing czar instructed SHFC head Federico Laxa to expedite the completion and improvement of the three housing projects in Caloocan for the benefit of about 5,000 individuals.

Aliling and Laxa led the inspection of the Alyansang Mamamayan ng Caloocan Housing Cooperative and the HopeVille Phase 2 Homeowners Association Inc., both in Barangay Bagumbong, and the Genesis Ville HOA Inc. in Barangay Camarin, according to DHSUD.

The two projects in Barangay Bagumbong were approved in 2014 and 2015, while the Barangay Camarin project was approved in 2014. In total, the three projects have 35 low-rise buildings.

Based on the inspection, the project sites and housing units require refurbishing due to the long work stoppage, Aliling said.

The DHSUD chief vowed full support for the completion and improvement of the projects.
