Hours after the killing of an accused in the Vijay Saini murder case during an encounter in Dujana village late on Sunday evening, Jhajjar police on Monday claimed to have arrested three persons, including a juvenile, from Mumbai in connection with the Jitendra murder case of Dighal village.

Interestingly, two of them, including the juvenile, were already wanted, with the Rajasthan Police having announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each for their arrest.

Jitender (50) was shot dead around midnight on June 2 while he was sleeping in an outer room of his house, allegedly due to old enmity. The assailant, along with another man, arrived at the spot, opened fire and fled after committing the crime.

The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, which later helped in the investigation.

Jhajjar police Commissioner Rajshri Singh said the accused had been identified as Deepanshu alias Dabodia of Daboa Khurd and Vishal alias Hanumangariya of Rajasthan, along with a juvenile.

“A special investigation team was formed into the case. A team of CIA-2 Bahadurgarh, led by Inspector Amit Kumar, later traced the suspects by using technical surveillance, intelligence inputs and scientific methods. After sustained efforts, the police located the accused in Mumbai, where they had been hiding to evade arrest. A coordinated operation was then launched, leading to their capture,” she added.

The Commissioner further informed that the preliminary investigation revealed that after committing the crime, the accused fled to Mumbai and were living under concealed identities.

“It was also found that Vishal is a habitual offender with at least six criminal cases registered against him in Haryana and Rajasthan, including charges of murder, extortion, illegal arms possession, and organised crime. Deepanshu also has a criminal history involving murder and other serious offences. The juvenile accused is similarly linked to multiple serious criminal cases in both states,” said Rajshri.

She further maintained that Vishal and the juvenile were already wanted in a separate murder case in Rajasthan, with a reward of Rs 25,000 each declared by the state police. The juvenile has been sent to a juvenile home following court orders, while Vishal and Deepanshu have been remanded to police custody for further interrogation, she added.

“We are now investigating the conspiracy behind Jitender’s murder, procurement of weapons, and possible accomplices. More crucial details are likely to emerge during police remand,” the Commissioner added.

Notably, Inderpal, an accused in the Vijay Saini murder case, was killed in an encounter with the Bahadurgarh STF near Dujana village on Sunday evening. During the crossfire, a Haryana Police inspector also sustained bullet injuries to his arm.
