KUALA LUMPUR: A further 25,000 Global Learning Pass (GLP) licences have been made available through Malaysia’s Rakyat Digital portal following high demand.
The expansion doubles the total number of fully funded licences available to the public to 50,000.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said Malaysians must be given the opportunity to build relevant skills and the confidence to utilise technology.
“The overwhelming response to the Global Learning Pass demonstrates a keen interest among the public to continuously learn,” Gobind said in a statement today.
“Through this additional allocation of 25,000 licences, we are answering that demand and creating more opportunities for Malaysians to strengthen their capabilities, enhance their career prospects, and apply the knowledge gained.
“Our priority is to ensure that Malaysia’s digital transformation brings meaningful benefits to the people.”
The extra licences will be offered in mid-November 2026 to the first 25,000 applicants currently on the waiting list. Applicants have been advised to monitor their registered email accounts for notifications and instructions on how to secure their licence.
Fully funded by the Malaysian government, the GLP provides three months of free access to more than 16,000 courses, guided projects, and professional certificates on Coursera, delivered by leading global universities and industry partners.
The additional allocation aligns with Budget 2027 priorities to boost digital capabilities, accelerate artificial intelligence adoption, and widen participation in the digital economy. It also supports the Malaysia Digital Action Plan 2030.
