MANILA City Mayor Isko Moreno announced that Phase 2 of the rehabilitation of the Dimasalang Bridge northbound lane will begin on Saturday, May 23.
Moreno said the project is targeted for completion by the second week of October 2026, in time for the preparation for the annual commemoration of All Saints’ Day in November.
The bridge is a crucial route for motorists and citizens traveling to the Dangwa Flower Market and the Manila North Cemetery.
“We need to fix that by then because millions of people will be coming to the North Cemetery,” Moreno said in Filipino in a Facebook Live broadcast on Thursday.
Moreno added that the city government has prepared an alternate route plan for motorists and commuters who will be affected by the temporary closure of the northbound lane while the rehabilitation is underway.
He said that Phase 1 of the project — which rehabilitated the southbound lane — was completed on time, noting that the Department of Public Works and Highways kept its promise.
“They fulfilled the deadline to complete this project in accordance with their assessment and compromise with our people in Manila,” Moreno added.
