PAPAR - A disabled teen died and his friend was injured after being struck by lightning while playing football at a field in Papar, today.
The 4pm incident killed Muhammad Zulqifle Redzwan, 13, instantly while his friend Assiy Qusyairy, 13, was rushed to Papar Hospital for further medical attention.
Papar fire and rescue department (BBP) chief Rozlan Osman said 10 personnel were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call.
“The firemen from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) gave first aid to the injured victim before handing him over to the medical team.
“The other victim died at the scene and it was confirmed by the medical team,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the victim’s body was handed to the police for further action before the operation ended at 4.40pm.
