Disciplinary action initiated against two UMS students following Kudat protest

Kota Kinabalu: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has initiated disciplinary action against two students who were allegedly involved in an altercation with authorities following a protest in a village in Kudat last month, Malaysiakini reported.

UMS said the action was based on information received regarding the students’ alleged involvement in the incident.

The university said the matter had affected public order as well as UMS’ interests, reputation and integrity.

UMS said the students could face disciplinary penalties, including possible expulsion, depending on the outcome of the proceedings.

The university added that a disciplinary committee would be formed to investigate the matter in accordance with existing regulations.

The students would be given the opportunity to provide their explanation before any decision is made.

UMS said it remains committed to upholding its rules while ensuring disciplinary matters are handled according to proper procedures.
