- Boston Stadium, which was opened in 2002, is usually known as Gillette Stadium, but has been renamed for the World Cup.
- It is the home stadium for the New England Patriots in the NFL, as well as the New England Revolution of MLS, and has a current capacity of 64,628.
- Four World Cup stadiums have retractable roofs, but Boston Stadium is not one of them, meaning players will not be sheltered from rain if the heavens open on Tuesday evening.
- Seven World Cup matches are scheduled to be played at Boston Stadium, and Scotland have already played their two matches to date, against Haiti and Morocco, at the venue.
