DOJ reports explosion outside office

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday reported that an explosion, allegedly caused by an improvised explosive device, occurred near the entrance of its office on Padre Faura Street, Ermita, Manila.

In a statement released by the agency, the device exploded at 12:17 a.m. on Monday.

“There are no reported casualties, and the Philippine National Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (PNP-EOD) Unit was immediately notified and responded to conduct a technical examination,” the DOJ said.

Also, the agency said an investigation was ongoing to determine the source, nature, and circumstances regarding the blast.

“The situation is currently under control, and the DOJ compound remains secure. The DOJ remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its personnel and the general public, while supporting a comprehensive and impartial investigation,” it said.
