Kota Kinabalu: Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia (G57) Chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said Sabah government officers, especially heads of local authorities like the Mayor, Municipal Council presidents, District Officers and District Council staff should not entertain the recently formed Madani Village Development Committee (JKDM) chairmen and secretaries in Sabah.

“The Sabah Government has clearly rejected the formation of JKDM which was recently launched by Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi in Sabah. Therefore, any activities by JKDM chairmen or secretaries should not be entertained,” he said in a statement, Wednesday.

He said issues at the village level should go through the existing Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) and Community Development Leader Units (UPPM) appointed by the Sabah Government.

“The Rural Administration Ordinance passed in the Sabah State Assembly recognises only JKKKs appointed by the State Government, as the village administration body.

He said it is disappointing that the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development helmed by Deputy Prime Minister Zahid seems to have sidelined the Sabah Government led by Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

“The Sabah Government has its own Rural Development Ministry which should be fully used to channel Federal allocations for developing infrastructure in Sabah.

“The Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim himself fully supports Hajiji’s leadership as the Chief Minister.
