
KENINGAU: The KKM Keningau team emerged as champions in the men’s category of the KKM Sabah Closed Volleyball Championship for the Keningau Area Health Officer’s Cup, held recently at the Multipurpose Hall, Keningau Sports Complex.
The runners-up spot to the Pabarsel X (West Coast South) team, while SMRC Sandakan and PBU finished in third and fourth place, respectively.
In the women’s category, KKM Keningau also claimed the championship title, followed by SMRC Lahad Datu in second place.
Pantai Barat Selatan (PBS) and CHKPR Ranau secured third and fourth places, respectively.
Ben Kiew Kwang Yuen (jersey no. 2) from Pabarsel X (West Coast South) and Bertysia Francisca Kunsiang (jersey no. 5) from KKM Keningau were named the best players of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the best receiver awards went to N. Irvin Majani (jersey no. 7) and Siti Sabariah Juman (jersey no. 10), both from the KKM Keningau team.
The best spiker award was presented to Liong Wen Chung, also from KKM Keningau.
The tournament was officiated by Keningau Area Assistant Health Officer Dr. Vinoth Viknesh A/L Muthusamy, while the prize-giving ceremony was graced by Sabah State Health Director Dr. William Gotulis.
A total of 18 teams participated in the championship.
