
PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad visited the grave of his late wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, at Pusara Negara in Presint 20 today.
Dr Mahathir arrived at about 11.05am accompanied by family members and spent around 15 minutes at the cemetery.
He was seen offering prayers at Dr Siti Hasmah’s grave before scattering rose petals. Mahathir appeared emotional during the visit and was seen shedding tears.

The visit took place as Dr Mahathir returned from the National Heart Institute (IJN), where he had undergone his regular treatment.
His press secretary, Sufi Yusoff, said Mahathir was tired after getting little sleep following Siti Hasmah’s death on Monday.
Dr Siti Hasmah, 100, died at IJN on Monday after her condition reportedly deteriorated suddenly. Her death was confirmed by their son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir.
The couple had been married for 70 years and had seven children.
Dr Siti Hasmah was among Malaysia’s pioneering Malay women doctors and established a public legacy through her contributions to medicine, women’s health and community welfare.
She was accorded a state funeral before being laid to rest at Pusara Negara on the same day.
