
Former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad could hardly hold back the tears as grief overwhelmed him while visiting the grave of his late wife of 70 years, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah.
In photos captured by reporters who were at Pusara Negara in Precinct 20, Putrajaya today, it showed Mahathir sobbing as tears rolled down his cheeks and his children consoling him.
He was also seen scattering rose petals over Siti Hasmah’s grave.

NST reported that Mahathir, who had been admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) a day after Siti Hasmah’s passing, arrived at the grave site at 11.05am and left 15 minutes later.
His press secretary, Sufi Yusoff, said the 101-year-old had undergone regular treatment at IJN due to fatigue.
Siti Hasmah passed away at IJN on Monday morning and her death was greatly mourned by Malaysians and several world leaders.

She was accorded a state funeral by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who said it was to honour the many contributions she had made for the country.
