FA chief Les Reed says Chelsea's transfer ban is good for England.

The recently appointed technical director reckons Chelsea's need to promote from within will open the eyes of Premier League clubs to the benefit of giving youth its chance.

Mason Mount, in the Three Lions' squad for the forthcoming European qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo and striker Tammy Abraham, have hit the ground running under Frank Lampard.

And Reed says, "Chelsea is an interesting one. I've always felt when clubs have struggled financially, they've looked at their own academies.

When I was at Charlton, players like Lee Bowyer, Scott Parker may not have had the chances unless we had to do it so we did and it worked because they proved they could hold their own.

And I think that often happens so in Chelsea's case, not because they haven't got the money to spend, they can't spend it, so they've introduced two or three who've held their own.

Mason Mount is a good example of someone who's gone 'look at me, I can do it'. Those kinds of things will change the mindset.

It's great that the Chelsea fans are really pleased those young players have been given a chance as they were back then with Charlton.

Fans loved the homegrown talent. Hopefully it gets a bit of impetus and more and more will get that opportunity."
