MANILA, Philippines — The second-round (round of 64) match between Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala and Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open was suspended due to imminent rain in the area Sunday midnight in Manila.
Eala held a 6-1, 3-0 lead with a 30-0 advantage in the fourth game of the second set before the umpire suspended play at the Tony Trabert Stadium 3 as dark, thick clouds hovered above.
Fans were also asked to evacuate the stands for their safety.
