Kota Kinabalu: Crowds gathered at the Kota Kinabalu Court Complex as early as 7am on Thursday for the Court of Appeal hearing on the Federal Government’s challenge concerning Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement.
Prominent figures attending the proceedings included former chief ministers Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee, alongside former deputy chief minister Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan.
Chief Minister’s Political Secretary-General Datuk Azrul Ibrahim, Sungai Manila assemblyman Datuk Hazem Mubarak Musa, nominated assemblyman Datuk Razali Razi, and various other government assemblymen were also among the observers.
NGO representatives, activists, and registered members of the public packed the complex's 250-capacity conference hall, where proceedings were relayed through the court’s audiovisual system following mandatory security screenings.
The hearing follows the Federal Government’s appeal against the Oct 17, 2025 High Court order directing a formal review of the special grant under the Sabah Law Society’s judicial review, an order currently stayed pending the appellate decision.
