MANILA, Philippines – Humid, warm weather from the easterlies would bring partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country within 24 hours, the state weather agency said Sunday.
Meanwhile, weather specialist Veronica Torres said that the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa has not spotted any low-pressure area forming inside or outside the country's area of responsibility.
She said in a 5 a.m. briefing that the other weather system, the shear line – convergence of hot and cold air – has been affecting Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Rizal, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms.
“Flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains would be possible in these areas,” the Pagasa forecaster warned.
Over Western Visayas, Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the easterlies would also bring overcast skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, the state-run weather agency said.
The northeast monsoon, locally known as ‘amihan’, would prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, it added.
