MANILA, Philippines — EDSA remained under moderate to heavy traffic on Tuesday evening as the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rally continued near the People Power Monument in Quezon City.
In a phone interview with The Manila Times, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the northbound traffic tail end reached the area near the EDSA William Street crossing and extending up to White Plains Avenue.
Traffic flow beyond White Plains Avenue toward Cubao remained normal, according to the agency.
For the southbound lane, MMDA said the tail end of traffic was observed at Liberty Avenue before reaching Main Avenue, while the start of the traffic stretch was at EDSA Connecticut.
The MMDA said the Philippine National Police (PNP) estimated the rally crowd at around 15,000 as of 8:06 p.m.
MMDA personnel will continue to stay in the area until rally participants leave to help manage traffic flow.
