Crystal Palace failed with a late attempt for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow.
The Athletic says Palace made a push for Sow this week, but ran out of time to sign the 25 year-old.
However, Palace could try again for Sow in January, believing they can convince Eintracht Frankfurt to sell for €20-25m.
On the Palace approach, Sow stated, "I've never made a secret of the fact that the Premier League is my wish and goal. It was also hugely lucrative for Eintracht Frankfurt. But my gut feeling decided that I should stay here."
