
TAWAU: A 71-year-old was among eight men arrested on suspicion of being involved in cockfighting gambling activities in a raid on a palm oil plantation along Jalan Tawau-Kunak on Saturday.
Tawau District Police Chief, ACP Jasmin Hussin, said the suspects comprised five locals and three foreigners aged between 25 and 71.
He said eight roosters were also seized in the 12.50pm raid by the Criminal Investigation Division who acted on public information.
“The police also confiscated cockfighting equipment and cash amounting to RM1,000,” he said.

Read more Jasmin said the case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Animal Welfare Enactment 2015, Section 7 (2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Jasmin warned that strict action would be taken against individuals involved in any gambling activities.
