
A couple has been killed while two others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge in Shimla.
The deceased have been identified as Suman Sharma (69) and his wife Leela Devi (64), both residents of Bilaspur district. The injured have been identified as their son Akhil Kumar and Nirmala Devi, a resident of Sargeen in Shimla.
The accident took place on Sunday on the Shoghi-Mehli road near Badagoan area when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into a deep gorge. Two occupants died on the spot.
Police reached the spot as soon as it received information about the accident and rescued the injured. The dead bodies were also recovered from the gorge.
The injured were rushed to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, where they are undergoing treatment.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, Gaurav Singh confirmed the report and said a case had been registered and further investigation was under way.
