PITAS: A 65-year-old Filipino sustained minor burns to his neck and right arm in a house fire at Kampung Perpaduan Saab on Thursday night.
Acting Pitas Fire and Rescue Chief PBK I Gabuh Maradan said two non-permanent houses were destroyed in the 9pm incident.
He said a team of seven firefighters, led by PBK II Jasli Jasni and equipped with one fire engine and a utility vehicle, was dispatched after receiving a distress call at 9.17pm.
“The victim, who suffered light burns, was taken to hospital by members of the public before our team arrived,” Gabuh said.
The fire was brought under control at 9.42pm, and the operation was called off at 11.58pm after confirming there were no further hazards.
