Electronics packaging firm to operate in Batangas

ELECTRONICS and metal products packaging firm Optispac Philippines is investing P30 million in its operations at the Lima Technology Center-Special Economic Zone in Batangas, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) said on Monday.

The company makes advanced ceramic and metal-glass hermetic packaging for semiconductors, sensors and optical communications, as well as miniaturized packaging solutions for automotive, medical devices and artificial intelligence.

PEZA Director General Tereso Panga and Optispac Philippines Vice President Munan Tan signed the agreement.

The deal also projects a scale-up in export operations from an initial 100,000 units in its first year to over 375,000 units annually by its fourth year of operation.

Optispac’s expertise in advanced hermetic packaging and liquid-cooled technologies will boost the local semiconductor and electronics value chain, Panga said.

“Enterprises like Optispac play a crucial role in moving the Philippines up the global technology ladder. By producing sophisticated electronic packaging solutions in our ecozones, they provide essential components that allow existing locators to innovate and compete more effectively at a global level,” Panga noted.
