ELEVEN prospective bidders have qualified for a renewable power auction focused on waste to energy (WTE) projects, the Department of Energy (DOE) said on Monday.
The companies were identified as:
– Green Atom Renewable Energy Corp.;
– LECRA Eco Sustain Philippines, Inc.;
– Manila Integrated Environment Corp.;
– San Mateo Sanitary Landfill and Dev. Corp.;
– International Solid Waste Integrated Management Specialist Inc.;
– MetPower Venture Partners Holdings Inc.;
– Prime Integrated Waste Solutions Inc.;
– Forza Development Corp.;
– North Maharlika Energy Corporation;
– the Davao City government; and
– Pan Pacific Renewable Power Phils. Corp.
A pre-bidding conference has been scheduled for Sept. 15 and the auction proper will be held on Oct. 13. The DOE is aiming to issue the certificates of award around the middle of December.
The DOE in June raised the offered capacity under the WTE auction to 400 megawatts from 230 megawatts and also extended the registration period to the end of July in a bid to attract more bidders.
Winning proponents are expected to achieve mechanical completion by Dec. 31, 2028, and the power plants are expected to start delivering power by Dec. 31, 2029.
The WTE bidding is part of the government’s Green Energy Auction program, which aims to accelerate renewable energy development in the country.
