
KENINGAU: An assistant engineer at the Keningau District Office has been remanded for seven days to assist the Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into alleged abuse of position involving 15 government projects worth about RM1.9 million.
The 45-year-old man was arrested on Oct 5 before being brought before the Keningau Magistrate’s Court Tuesday.
The court ordered him to be remanded until Oct 13 to facilitate investigations under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
The investigation is believed to involve projects carried out between 2021 and 2024.
The suspect is alleged to have played a role in the appointment of certain companies and the verification of Certificates of Completion.
The company involved is believed to be owned by the suspect’s wife and was appointed as a subcontractor for projects secured from the Keningau District Office.
The case remains under investigation by the MACC, and all allegations against the suspect are subject to due legal process.
