England supporters witnessed one of the all-time great World Cup performances in their victory against Mexico at the Azteca.

Goals from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane secured a spot in the quarter final against Norway later this week.

The game was always going to be a difficult one for Thomas Tuchel’s side given all the different factors England faced heading into the iconic stadium.

However, the Three Lions dealt with the hostile atmosphere, which the travelling England supporters also had to deal with in the stands.

It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of the English supporters at the stadium where England were dumped out of the 1986 World Cup by Argentina.

Having witnessed the support of the Mexicans, a lot of England fans left the Azteca saying exactly the same thing.

England supporters stunned by the atmosphere created by Mexico fans

Kane lost his voice after the game whilst enjoying the post-match celebrations with the England fans, but it was the Mexicans who made all the noise during the 90 minutes.

The altitude was a huge talking point going into the game, but the hostile atmosphere was also something England had to take into consideration.

“I’ve been hugging so many people. I’ve lost my England hat and I’ve got a Mexico hat now. I’m just saying, they are the most beautiful people and the best fans in the world,” one England supporter told BBC Sport.

An attendance of 80,824 was recorded at the Azetca for the clash between Mexico and England.

“It was difficult. It was the loudest stadium I’ve ever been in,” added another England fan.

“I’ve never been anywhere like it,” said one England supporter after leaving the Azteca.

England will now face Norway in Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium – home of the Miami Dolphins – on Saturday.
