
Kota Kinabalu: The Eagles Rugby Club emerged victorious in the men’s open 10s at the 4th UMS Sports Science Rugby Championship held at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) field over the weekend.
The tightly contested final match saw them edge out Titanium RC 7-5 to clinch the Cup.
The women’s open 7s was won by Angel Warriors, who successfully defended their title after beating Sukma Sabah 10-5 in the final.
In the veteran 10s category, the impressive Saborc Goldstar thrashed KK Sharks 24-0 in a one-sided final to take the title.
A total of 24 teams took part in the two-day competition organised by UMS Sports Science Club.
The plate title in the men’s 10s was captured by Kepayan Tiger with a 10-7 victory over Pangazou Rugby Club, while the bowl title went to Barbarian Rugby Club, who defeated Crocz Rugby Club 19-14 in a highly entertaining finale.
