THE Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has announced the approval of two solar companies’ applications to connect to the national power grid.
The first will connect Northern Sun Radiance Inc.’s 147.40-megawatt-alternating current (MWac) floating solar power project in San Marcelino, Zambales, to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines’ (NGCP) 230-kilovolt (kV) Castillejos substation. The second project will connect Ubay Solar Corp.’s 137.48-MWac photovoltaic solar power plant in Bohol to NGCP’s Ubay 138-kV substation.Initial estimated cost of the San Marcelino project was P895.61 million, but was increased to P920.53 million.Meanwhile, the Bohol project would cost P364.27 million.Ocular inspections last year showed that construction of both projects has not started, and that both companies followed proper procedures to acquire authorization papers.
