KINABATANGAN: An office building at Leepang 2 Estate here was about 90 per cent destroyed in an early morning fire on Wednesday.
Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station chief Suriyadi Drawis said the department received an emergency call via NG999 at 5.17am before deploying a team to the scene located roughly 140 kilometres away.
Firefighters arrived at 9.18am and mounted an operation using a single hose line to extinguish the blaze involving the 20-by-40-foot permanent structure, followed by an overhaul to prevent re-ignition.
Suriyadi confirmed that no casualties were reported, noting that six personnel utilising two vehicles carried out the operation.
He added that communication at the location was hindered by a lack of GIRN and mobile network coverage, with the cause of the fire and total losses currently under investigation.
