Everton defender James Tarkowski admitted frustration after defeat at Liverpool.

The Blues lost 2-0, with Ashley Young being sent off for Everton in the first-half. At 0-0, Ibrahima Konate escaped a red card before Mohamed Salah scored the first of his double.

Tarkowski, who was booked in the opening period for a foul on Kostas Tsimikas, said: I recall I got booked in the first half for fouling one of their lads in midfield and the ref said I was out of position and fouled him, so it's yellow card.

So, then, Konate was out of position, fouls our player and there was no yellow card. So where is the consistency?

If he's told me that's why he's booked me, then I expect the same to be applied in the second half."

He continued: We're really frustrated. We had a man sent off, they had a penalty which I haven't seen back but at the time it didn't feel like a penalty to me at all, their lad [Konate] I think should have been sent off and they then get him off the pitch to save him. It's frustrating.

We got done by a penalty and then a late counter-attack, so it's disappointing but not so much in our performance but just with the way the game went."
