A former Manchester City star who was left out of England’s 2026 World Cup squad has reportedly been arrested following a Lamborghini crash on the M3.
The incident has added to the scrutiny surrounding a player whose career has already taken a sharp turn since leaving Manchester City. While there were no injuries reported, police confirmed the driver was arrested on multiple suspicions following the crash.
It is important to note that the case is still under investigation. An arrest is not a conviction, and the player has been released on bail while police enquiries continue.

Raheem Sterling reportedly arrested after Lamborghini crash near Minley Interchange
According to Metro, Hampshire Police detailed what happened after receiving reports of the crash on Thursday morning.
“Just before 9am on Thursday, we received reports that a Lamborghini was in collision with barriers on the M3 southbound, close to the Minley Interchange.
“No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported,” Hampshire Police stated.
Sterling, now 31, was not included in England’s 2026 World Cup squad, marking another setback in a difficult period following his departure from Manchester City.
Since leaving City, he has played for Chelsea, had a loan spell at Arsenal, and then moved to Feyenoord, yet none of those moves have helped him recapture the form he showed under Pep Guardiola.
The crash now adds an off-field issue to his recent struggles, even though the legal process is still ongoing.
Raheem Sterling bailed as police continue enquiries after reported M3 crash
Police also outlined the specific suspicions related to the arrest following the single-vehicle incident.
“The driver, a 31-year-old man, from Berkshire, has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, driving dangerously, possession of a Class C drug and failing to provide a specimen. He has been bailed while our enquiries continue,” the report added.
This is why the story goes beyond a simple motorway crash. The allegations involve suspected drug-driving, dangerous driving, possession of a Class C drug, and failing to provide a specimen.
For Sterling, the timing is especially challenging as he is already out of the England squad and trying to rebuild his career after several frustrating club spells. He was once one of England’s key attacking players and a crucial part of Manchester City’s title-winning sides.
Now, attention has shifted to an alleged incident that could bring even more scrutiny at a time when his football future is already in question.
