The spirit of togetherness celebrated during the month of Syawal 1446 Hijrah (31 March - 29 April, 2025) with Aidilfitri Open House in Malaysia organised by offices, relatives and friends. It reflects the Muslims commitment to connecting with families, colleagues and communities. This open house offers a warm and inclusive atmosphere where guests from all walks of life can enjoy traditional Malay delicacies, live music and culture performances, in the spirit of togetherness. It's a wonderful opportunity for locals & foreigners alike to experience the warmth of Malaysian hospitality in the festive spirit of of celebrations. The attraction as always are the food served.

Yes, one of the highlights of this festive occasion is the delicious spread of traditional foods that are prepared and enjoyed by families and friends. These traditional foods hold deep cultural significance & the richness of Malay cuisine passed down through generations. During Hari Raya Aidilfitri, no celebration is complete without the presence of the traditional rice delights: lemang and ketupat with rendang: usually beef or chicken, a flavourful and aromatic dish, richly blend of spices which holds a significant place in Malay cuisine.

To date my wife, Zarina & I had attended many Aidilfitri Open House hosted by relatives, friends & organisations. We joined Mozhdez Kamalifar (Ana), her husband, Reza and son, Mohamad Ali from Iran for Putra Business School (PBS) Open House reception. Ana, MBA graduate is an alumna of Putra Students Association (PSA) has been living in Malaysia for the past 15 years and loved Aidilfitri culinary appeal, especially the variety of traditional kuih (Malay sweets). This bite-sized sponge cakes & ice cream are their favourite.

We learned from Ana and Reza that in Tehran (where their parents live) and other Iranian cities and villages, they used the phrase Eid-e Shoma Mobarak for Eid al-Fitr greetings. However, their Eid celebration and feast is not an elaborate practice as that of in Malaysia.
