Cadillac Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas covered nearly 162km in a single day while cycling from Malaysia towards Singapore for the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix.
According to Malay Mail, the 37-year-old clocked 161.91km on Monday (Oct 5), spending nearly six hours in the saddle during the second day of his journey.
That’s quite a commute to your next race.
Swapped his race car for a bicycle
Bottas began the ride after failing to finish Sunday’s race at Sepang.
Velo reported that he completed his first stretch on Sunday night, covering about 56km towards Si Rusa in just over two hours.
His Instagram video showed him cycling along gravel trails in the dark, with a light illuminating the route ahead.

By the end of his second day, his reported distance across both rides totalled approximately 218km.
Taking the roads less travelled
According to Malay Mail, Bottas is accompanied by his partner, Australian professional road and gravel cyclist Tiffany Cromwell.
The pair have been travelling along gravel tracks and off-road stretches through the Malaysian countryside.
“Yes I am riding to Singapore … On the gravel roads less travelled,” Bottas wrote on social media.
No stranger to cycling
This is far from Bottas’ first cycling challenge.
Velo reported that he qualified for the UCI Gravel World Championships after finishing fifth in his age category at an event in the Czech Republic.
However, the cycling championship clashes with the Singapore Grand Prix, meaning he will have to miss it.
For now, he’s still getting plenty of time on two wheels before returning to four.
