Kota Kinabalu: Two cars were damaged after a fallen tree landed on them along Jalan Tun Razak, in front of Wisma Merdeka here on Tuesday morning, Info X reported.
Kota Kinabalu Civil Defence District Officer Major (PA) Aizex Junior Simon said the Angsana tree fell near traffic lights, blocking two lanes and crushing a Perodua Axia and Perodua Alza.
He said the Kota Kinabalu Civil Defence Force received an emergency call through the NG999 line before a team was dispatched and arrived at the scene at 7.13am, where the tree was found blocking the road and had landed on the two vehicles.
“Both cars were travelling to their destinations when the tree fell near the traffic lights, but there were no injuries to the drivers or passengers,” he said, adding that personnel assessed the scene before cutting sections of the tree on the vehicles to allow them to be moved.
The cutting and removal operation, assisted by City Hall (DBKK) using three chainsaws, was completed at about 8.45am, with both vehicles sustaining dents to their roofs before the road was reopened and the team returned to the Kota Kinabalu District Operations Control Centre at 9am.
