False info: woman jailed, fined

BELURAN: A 41-year-old woman was jailed six months and fined RM4,000 by the Magistrate’s Court, Wednesday, for giving false information when applying for an identity card for an individual who is not her biological child.

Harisa Arif @ Rippe pleaded guilty before Magistrate Nur Faezah Jafry to committing the offence at 9.31am on Nov 3, 2022 at the Beluran National Registration Department (NRD).

Harisa was charged under Section 25(1)(b) of the National Registration Regulation which provides for a jail term of up to three years or fine, on conviction.

NRD Prosecuting Officer Mohd Naser Mohd Nadzeri applied for an adequate sentence as the offence committed was serious and sensitive and involving the sovereignty of the country.

The court ordered Harisa to serve the sentence from the date of her arrest on March 6.
