Family in shock after woman allegedly killed by husband at KLIA

NILAI, Oct 16 - The family of a woman allegedly murdered by her husband at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) quarters last night is struggling to come to terms with her death.

The victim's eldest brother, Amran Ibrahim, 59, said he was informed by his younger brother at about 7.30 pm that their youngest sister, Norhazwani Ibrahim, 35, had allegedly been killed by her husband, who later surrendered at a nearby police station.

"I was at home in Pinggiran Batu Caves, Selangor, when I received a call from my eighth sibling, who told me that our brother-in-law (the suspect) had contacted him and confessed to killing his wife.

"I was completely shocked and could not believe it. I had mixed feelings.

"I immediately contacted the police station to confirm the news, as we had been told that the suspect had turned himself in. I then came here with other family members to find out what had happened," he told reporters when met at the scene early this morning.

Amran described Norhazwani, affectionately known to the family as Wani or Mok Su, as a cheerful person who was well-liked by everyone.

He said he last saw his sister seven months ago, although they had remained in contact through a family WhatsApp group.

"Yesterday, our eighth sibling went to Wani's house and stayed overnight because he had some matters to attend to.

"He even reminded Wani to take good care of her marriage. Everything seemed normal, and I never thought something like this could happen," he said.

Norhazwani leaves behind two children, aged six and five.

Amran said the suspect had reportedly been released from prison just days earlier after serving a sentence for a drug-related offence.

The couple were also believed to have been in the process of getting a divorce.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted at Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban tomorrow, after which Norhazwani's body will be taken to Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat, Kelantan, for burial.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said Norhazwani, who had reportedly served as a customs officer, had been transferred to the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).

Nilai district police chief Supt Johari Yahya said the suspect had been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
