Yesterday (Oct 15), a civil servant was murdered in cold blood allegedly at the hands of her husband at a government quarters unit along Jalan Kuarters KLIA in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
China Press reported that the victim, Norhazwani Ibrahim, worked as Customs Department officer under the Malaysian Checkpoints and Borders Agency (AKPS).

Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed the incident, saying police were alerted of the tragedy around 8.30pm before a team was dispatched to the scene.
He added that based on preliminary investigations, the suspect was Norhazwani’s husband, who surrendered to police after stabbing Norhazwani.
Photos also showed Norhazwani’s husband being brought to the crime scene while in handcuffs at 11.30pm before being taken away 20 minutes later.

Troubled marriage
Norhazwani’s brother, Amran Ibrahim, said he received a call from his younger brother about 7.30pm informing him that Norhazwani had allegedly died at the hands of her husband.
“At the time, I was at home in Pinggiran Batu Caves, Selangor, when I received a call from my younger brother. He told me that my brother-in-law (the suspect) had contacted him and said he had killed his own wife.
I had mixed feelings. I was shocked, could not believe it and was also angry. I immediately contacted the police station because the suspect had also said he wanted to turn himself in.”

Amran revealed that his sister’s marriage had been on the rocks for quite some time as she and her husband were reportedly in the process of getting divorced.
He also said Norhazwani’s husband had just been released from prison several days earlier after serving his time for a drug-related offence.
Found it hard to accept reality
Amran said Norhazwani’s death had left the family shocked and devastated as they struggle to come to terms with her passing.
“We accepted it as fate if it was her time to go. However, the way she died is heartbreaking, especially since the person responsible was her own husband.”

He added Norhazwani’s employer had offered to facilitate the sending of her remains to Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat, Kelantan, for burial, which is expected to be held tomorrow (Oct 17).
The case is currently being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
