Fancy living in the Lake Como villa from Casino Royale? An apartment inside is now on sale

There’s been a lot of talk about set-jetting in recent years, with people booking stays in hotels made famous by TV shows and films like The White Lotus or Lost in Translation.

But what if you could make a movie set your permanent address?

This is exactly what you can do – assuming you have a cool €1.2 million-€1.4 million to spare. That’s because an apartment in the villa from Casino Royale has just gone up for sale on Italy Sotheby's International Realty.

Located on the shores of Lake Como, Villa La Gaeta was the setting of the 2006 movie’s final scene in which Daniel Craig’s 007 utters the franchise’s best-known catchphrase: "The name’s Bond, James Bond”.

It’s your chance to own a piece of cinematic history – and the villa is absolutely stunning to boot.

Inside Villa La Gaeta

Originally completed in 1921, Villa La Gaeta was designed by the Coppedè architects in an eclectic Neo-Medieval style.

Following refurbishments in 2023, the internal space was split into five apartments.

The apartment in question is found on the ground floor, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Spanning 121 square metres across two levels, the ground floor includes a kitchen, a double bedroom, a bathroom and the living room, which overlooks the terrace.

On the lower floor, which opens onto the marina basin, you’ll find a double bedroom, en-suite bathroom, and a room that could serve as either a walk-in wardrobe or a study.

The apartment also includes two storage cellars, two parking spaces, and boat mooring.

You’ll also have access to the park grounds, a private beach where you can swim in the lake, and a shared swimming pool.

I’m in. I just need to find that €1.2 million first.
