Alex Pereira’s move to heavyweight has already created major intrigue, and every training clip is now being judged through the Ciryl Gane lens.

The two-division UFC champion is preparing to face the Frenchman for the interim heavyweight title at UFC Freedom 250.

A short clip of Pereira sparring Tallison Teixeira has now worried some fans, with Gane’s speed becoming the obvious comparison point.

Teixeira is not as established at heavyweight as Gane, but he still offers a serious physical challenge as the division’s No. 15-ranked fighter.

The Brazilian is listed at six-foot-seven, making him three inches taller than both Pereira and Gane, who are listed at six-foot-four.

That height played a part in the footage, but it did little to ease concerns over the shots Pereira appeared to absorb during the session.

“He better not eat those types of shots in front of Gane,” one fan wrote on X after watching the clip.

Another added: “As a Poatan fan, I’m a bit worried. He doesn’t seem as fast as Gane is at this weight and that can be a big factor.”

Others were harsher, with one saying: “It’s not looking good for him.”

A fourth comment read: “Easy win for Gane. This man is slow as f—.”

The concern is clear. Gane is not just a heavyweight striker, he is one of the division’s best movers and fastest technicians.

Pereira’s power remains the great equaliser, and sparring clips rarely tell the full story, but the clip has added intrigue to UFC Freedom 250.
