KENINGAU: A 16-year-old girl was killed when her motorcycle collided with a three-tonne lorry at Km 2.5, Jalan Keningau-Magatang, about 8.30am on Wednesday.

Keningau District Police Chief Supt Yampil Garai said preliminary investigations showed the motorcyclist was heading towards Panagatan from Keningau, while the lorry was heading in the opposite direction.

“The teenager was believed to have lost control of the motorcycle while trying to overtake a car ahead, causing her motorcycle to skid before cutting into the opposite lane and colliding with the lorry,” he said at a press conference.

The 55-year-old lorry driver did not sustain any injury.
