
LAHAD DATU: A 38-year-old Filipino man was detained after police found sharp-edge weapons and drugs in his possession.
District Acting Police Chief Supt Jimmy Panyau said the suspect was detained following Op Tapis on Friday.
The suspect was detained with 0.22 grammes of drugs believed to be syabu. Upon further inspection, police found two knives and a pair of scissors inside his bag.

“Investigation is carried out under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 as well as Section 7(1)(A) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958,” he said.
Jimmy said police also arrested a 29-year-old local man during the operation.
He said the man was detained for possessing 0.19 grammes of drugs believed to be syabu and tested positive for methamphetamine.
The case will be investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
Both suspects were remanded to assist in further investigation.
“We will continue to intensify efforts in combating drug-related crimes in this district,” he added.
