Fire hits residential area in Muntinlupa, reaches third alarm

MANILA, Philippines — Fire hit a residential area in Muntinlupa City reached third alarm as firefighters continued to battle the blaze on Wednesday morning.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the blaze at Purok 2 in Barangay Sucat was raised to first alarm at 6:51 a.m., second alarm at 7:21 a.m., and third alarm at 8:05 a.m., according to the Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Biazon said village and BFP firefighters immediately responded to the fire after it was raised to first alarm.

He said he was monitoring the emergency response operations of the concerned units, including the BFP, DRRMO, village officials, and volunteers, through the city’s operations center and direct communication.

Under the city’s protocols, Biazon said the Social Service Department was also preparing assistance for affected residents.

Authorities have yet to release details on the number of affected families, damaged houses, or possible injuries as of posting time.
