Kota Kinabalu: Attorney General (AG) of Malaysia Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar made history by becoming the first AG to reach the summit of Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia’s highest peak.
He achieved the feat during the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) Kinabalu Expedition 2026, held from Aug 14 to 16, which brought together 25 AGC participants.
The expedition was organised by the AGC in collaboration with its Sabah branch.
Among those who took part were Prosecution Division Head Datuk Masri Mohd Daud, Legal Division Head Shamsul Bolhasan and Deputy Legal Division Head Ahmad Hanir Hambaly@Arwi.
Mohd Dusuki and the other participants began their climb from Laban Rata at about 3am on Aug 15 before reaching the summit.
Upon reaching the peak, Mohd Dusuki raised the Jalur Gemilang as a symbol of patriotism and love for the country ahead of the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
He said the climb was not merely a physical challenge but also carried a message of patriotism and love for the country.
“The raising of the Jalur Gemilang at the summit of Mount Kinabalu is a symbol of our love for the country.
“The spirit of patriotism must continue to be strengthened and translated through efforts that can unite us as Malaysians,” he said.
Mohd Dusuki said the expedition also provided AGC personnel with an opportunity to test their physical and mental endurance while strengthening discipline, teamwork and unity in carrying out their responsibilities to the country.
He said the successful climb and raising of the Jalur Gemilang at the summit marked a meaningful moment in the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
He added that it also reflected the AGC’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and providing the best service to the nation.
The expedition carried the Jalur Gemilang from Putrajaya to the summit of Mount Kinabalu as a symbol of love for Malaysia.
The organisers also expressed appreciation to the AGC Sabah branch, Ranau District Police Headquarters, Sabah Parks, the secretariat, officers on duty and all parties involved for their cooperation and support in making the expedition a success.
