The CIA unit and Bhuna police have arrested five persons in connection with the murder of Sachin alias Chinna, cracking the case within days of the killing. The accused were allegedly planning to flee to Haridwar when they were nabbed in a joint operation on Wednesday evening.

The arrested have been identified as Parvesh alias Michu of Khairi Chowk, Kartik alias Karu and Deepak alias Billa of Kamboj Mohalla, Sanjay alias Chidimar of Ward No. 1, and Aman of Ward No. 9, Bhuna. All five were produced before a court on Thursday and taken on police remand for further questioning.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had an ongoing dispute with Sachin for several months. Deepak alias Billa allegedly told investigators that the two groups had clashed multiple times in the past and the assault was carried out to “teach him a lesson”. The accused, however, claimed they had no intention of killing him.

Police said the probe has also uncovered the criminal background of one of the accused. Deepak alias Billa, a resident of Hisar Road, has been involved in crime since his teenage years and has faced multiple cases over the past six years.

Police records show six cases against him, including murder, attempt to murder, aerial firing, illegal possession of weapons, assault, and offences under the NDPS Act. He was earlier jailed in murder and attempted murder cases and is currently out on bail.

Sources said Deepak was also allegedly involved in reconnaissance before the murder of contractor Pankaj Khurana in October 2021.

In the current case, five named accused and around 15 unidentified suspects are still absconding.

Bhuna SHO Om Prakash Bishnoi said investigators would use the remand period to uncover the full conspiracy behind the murder and identify others involved in the attack.
