(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines — More areas in Metro Manila are now flooded, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Saturday.
Aside from Quezon City and Makati City, Valenzuela has also reported floods caused by the heavy monsoon rains.
As of 12:45 p.m., the MMDA said the affected areas were:
Quezon City:
A. Bonifacio corner Sgt. Rivera
Makati City:
EDSA Estrella southbound
Valenzuela City:
MacArthur Highway, in front Fatima Hospital and Karuhatan Market
C3-North Luzon Expressway
According to the MMDA, these areas have gutter deep floods, but are passable to all types of vehicles.
The Marikina River is also being monitored by the local government. As of posting time, the river's water level is at 13.8 meters, still considered normal by city standards. The first alarm will be called once the level reaches 15 meters after which residents nearby will be asked to prepare for evacuation. A second alarm at 16 meters will be called in which a voluntary evacuation will be enforced. There will be a forced evacuation for residents on the third alarm when the river's level reaches 18 meters.
