KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and AirBorneo (formerly MASwings) will implement new regulations on carrying power banks during flights, effective April 1, Says reported.
The airlines announced the stricter guidelines in a statement on March 17, citing enhanced passenger safety as the primary reason for the change.
Under the new rules, passengers must always carry power banks with them, as storing them in checked baggage or overhead compartments is strictly prohibited.
Charging power banks during the flight is also not allowed, and their use is restricted during taxiing, takeoff, or whenever the seatbelt sign is illuminated.
Each passenger may carry up to two power banks with a capacity between 100 and 160Wh, and other airlines such as Thai Airways, Batik Air, Singapore Airlines, and Scoot have introduced similar policies.
