Forget 'Do Not Touch': Choreographer William Forsythe invites you to dance with the exhibits

William Forsythe, one of the world's leading choreographers, is holding a solo exhibition at the Voorlinden Museum in the Netherlands.

Titled "Choreographic Objects", it combines large-scale installations, sculptures and film works which challenge visitors to engage physically with the exhibits. Forsythe says that this is "an extension of choreographic practice".

The acclaimed American artist states that the exhibition is "a suite of activities and ideas that would form a coherent narrative of addition and subtraction". He adds that the public is very "unpredictable" and that people's "personalities emerge" during their visit.

The exhibition can also be admired visually, without the physical aspect... But why would anyone pass on the chance to break the "Do Not Touch" rule?

"Choreographic Objects" runs until 23 August 2026 at the Voorlinden Museum in Wassenaar, Netherlands. Check out the video above for footage of the exhibition.
