Former deputy IGP Ayob Khan appointed UTem board chairman

MELAKA - Former Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has been appointed chairman of the Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) Board of Directors for a three-year term effective Sept 16.

In a statement here today, UTeM said the appointment, approved by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, succeeds Datuk Husaini Omar, whose term has ended.

The university said Ayob Khan’s extensive experience in leadership and senior management in one of the country’s key departments was expected to strengthen the UTeM Board’s role in steering the university’s strategic direction sustainably.

"UTeM believes his extensive experience and strong strategic management credentials will enable him to lead the UTeM Board in addressing the challenges ahead,” it said.

The university said his appointment was expected to bring a new dimension to UTeM’s strategic leadership, particularly in strengthening governance, strategic networks and the university’s role in developing technical education in the country.

UTeM also expressed its highest appreciation and gratitude to Husaini for his contributions, commitment and service during his tenure as chairman of the UTeM Board of Directors. - BERNAMA
