Russell Wilson is finalising a deal to become a CBS Sports analyst, with the ten-time Pro Bowl quarterback set for a major broadcasting move after 14 seasons in the NFL.
According to The Associated Press, Wilson is closing in on an agreement to join CBS Sports as an analyst on the network’s Sunday NFL pregame show, The NFL Today.
The deal has not yet been completed, with AP reporting that a person familiar with the decision spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract was still being finalised.
Russell Wilson set for CBS role on The NFL Today

Wilson is expected to move into a prominent studio role with CBS, joining one of the network’s key NFL broadcasts ahead of the new season.
The opening follows Matt Ryan’s departure from CBS. Ryan left his role with the network after being appointed president of football operations by the Atlanta Falcons.
Wilson has not formally announced his retirement from the NFL, so the move should not yet be framed as a confirmed end to his playing career.
However, the CBS role would represent a clear shift in direction for one of the most recognisable quarterbacks of his generation.
Wilson had also been linked with a possible backup role at the New York Jets earlier this year, but the broadcasting opportunity now appears to be his next step.
Wilson brings major NFL experience to CBS after decorated playing career
Wilson would arrive at CBS with one of the strongest playing resumes available to any network analyst.
The 37-year-old is a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and a ten-time Pro Bowl selection. He helped lead the Seattle Seahawks to their first Super Bowl title during the 2013 season.
Across 14 NFL seasons, Wilson has thrown for 46,966 yards, 353 touchdowns and 114 interceptions.
His career has included spells with the Seahawks, Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants.
That experience gives CBS a high-profile name with recent playing knowledge, postseason pedigree and a long record as one of the NFL’s most visible quarterbacks.
For Wilson, the move would mark a significant new chapter. For CBS, it would add another major quarterback voice to its NFL coverage after Ryan’s move back into the Falcons organisation.
