Four men died after a Perodua Viva crashed into a parked five-tonne lorry at Jalan Sepanggar, Kota Kinabalu early Sunday
KOTA KINABALU: Four men were killed after the Perodua Viva car they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a five-tonne lorry parked on the road shoulder at Taman Jaya Diri, Jalan Sepanggar, here early today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said in a statement that it received an emergency call about the incident at 2.37 am.
It said personnel from the Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by the Lintas Fire and Rescue Station, arrived at the scene at 2.59 am and found all four victims, whose identities are still being ascertained, trapped inside the vehicle.
“The firemen found that the accident involved a Perodua Viva which had skidded before crashing into a five-tonne lorry parked on the road shoulder.
“Four victims were trapped inside the vehicle, and the firemen used special rescue equipment to extricate them,” it said.
The operation to extricate the victims was completed at 3.50 am, with all four pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
