Kota Kinabalu: Four men died after their car was involved in a five-vehicle pile-up along Jalan Sepanggar near Taman Jaya Diri early Sunday.
Acting City police chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Abd Rahman said preliminary investigations showed a Perodua Viva heading towards Indah Permai is believed to have lost control at about 2.30am, veering off to the left and colliding with a parked Isuzu NPR lorry and a Perodua Aruz.
The impact pushed the lorry forward, crushing a Nissan Urvan before the van struck a Proton X50.
Firefighters extricated the 23-year-old driver and three passengers in their 20s from the wreckage, but Likas Hospital medical personnel pronounced all four dead at the scene before their bodies were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital I for a post-mortem examination.
